INTRO TO ARGENTINE TANGO
FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS

This course is designed to introduce students to the core elements of Argentine Tango. We will focus on balance, basic timing and partner connection, as well as introducing you to navigation (floor craft).
Level 2
BEGINNER COURSE
TANGO STRUCTURE & IMPROVISATION
2 Part series

Pre-requisite:
Completion of Intro to Tango or previous experience with a clear understanding of the the Fundamental Elements before taking this class.
In this course students will learn how to connect the dots and bring the fundamentals elements to life by focusing on basic timing, technique, body alignment and partner connection while combining interchangeable elements to improvise and navigate the social dance floor. New essential concepts and figures will be introduced with a strong focus placed on connection, lead and follow, improvisation, timing and navigation as well as an introduction to the two main systems in Argentine Tango: Parallel and Cross System. In addition, students will be introduced to social dance etiquette (codigos) specific to Argentine Tango preparing them for “Milongas and Practicas” (Social Dances). By the end of this course, students are expected to have a basic understanding of how to lead or follow the Fundamental Elements and to have developed an awareness of “La Ronda” (Line of Dance).
PREREQUISITE
Students in this course should have completed “Intro to Tango” course or has had previous experience with a clear understanding of the the Fundamental Elements before taking this class

Students in this course must have a clear understanding in how to execute and improvise the Fundamental Elements:

The Embrace – Close and Open

Walking (forward, back, side, changes of weight, rock steps)

Forward & Back Ochos/Pivoting for leaders and followers

Giros or Molinetes (turns).
Also, students should have a clear understanding of essential concepts and combination/figures such as:

LEVEL 4 & 5
INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED
For experienced dancers
​
Open weekly class to tango dancers with at least 2-3 years of experienced dancing including taking classes and attending milongas on a consistent basis.
